A major search has been taking place for a missing man last seen entering the River Thames in Berkshire.

Peter Jones, 43, of Slough, was attending a boat party when he disappeared.

He was spotted in the river, close to Windsor Racecourse, at 2150 BST on Wednesday.

Officers and the police helicopter resumed a search for Mr Jones on Thursday morning and were joined by a specialist rescue team.

Police said the circumstances of how he entered the river were under investigation.

His family said: "We are naturally very worried for Peter's welfare as he has now been missing for over 20 hours.

"We urge him to get in contact with us as soon as possible to let us know that he is safe and well."
